The hype surrounding “Paul the Octopus” reached a whole new level on Sunday as some less reliable bloggers released fake pictures showing Paul predicting a Spain win over Germany in the semi final.

The octopus that is prediction the World Cup games for Germany has become something of a worldwide celebrity. Apparently he was right in 80% of the games in the 2006 World Cup and so far he has picked the right winner in all of Germany’s matches in the 2010 World Cup.

It seems that whenever a team has performed badly in the World Cup, it is all ways the coach’s fault. I think that at some point the blame has to be dished out on the players as well.

It feels like the opening game of the 2010 World Cup was yesterday but we have really come a long was since then.
